Angus & Julia Stone made the Enmore Theatre a magical place to be on a Monday night.
Opening for them was Melbourne singer-songwriter Angie McMahon, with her bold vocals and beautiful guitar tones. She was a perfect opener – a confident on-stage presence with heartfelt, honest songwriting and unique voice.
The brother and sister duo took the stage and opened with a sumptuous backdrop of night sky and forest and immediately captivated the crowd. Showcasing their latest album Snow, which was recorded in Angus’ Byron Bay cottage.
Snow is the first album written entirely in collaboration – a process initiated by producer Rick Rubin while working on the pair’s 2014 self-titled record. This intertwining of their dreamy musicality was truly a breath-taking experience for the packed to the rafters crowd – whose attentive silence during songs was a testament to the raw intimacy of these songs.
By the time the closed with ‘Chateau’ and the confetti fell – the sense of wonder and warmth was evidence on the smiles of those stepping out into the chilly Sydney night.
