Since 2004, HOT CHIP has released a string of ambitious and creatively bold albums of soulful, lyrical and melodic electronic pop. The collective creative talents of Joe Goddard, Alexis Taylor, Felix Martin, Al Doyle and Owen Clarke have led to a stellar catalogue now stretching to five albums and several standout singles including mega dance hit Ready For The Floor – not to mention nominations at the Mercury Prize and Grammy Awards.
Now widely regarded as one of the UK’s greatest exponents of quirky, compelling, electronic pop music, HOT CHIP have had a cracking year. Their fifth studio album In Our Heads has received critical acclaim around the world, being almost universally described as ‘joyful’, ‘exuberant’, ‘uplifting’ and ‘filled with infectious pop hooks’. It landed in the ARIA Top 20 and was featured by youth radio network triple j who described the album as ‘more HOT CHIP goodness; the perfect balance between tender and banging dance music.’
HOT CHIP has created a uniquely identifiable sound with a lexicon of influences that includes a diverse mix of soul, R&B, gospel, Detroit House, disco and funk. Described by the BBC as ‘dance music with feelings; beats in cardigans’ there’s nothing ordinary about HOT CHIP.
