The Jefferson are a four piece melodic rock band based in Sydney, Australia and while Jared King (bass), Dion O’Connor (drums) and Andrew Turner (guitar) are the grit and guts that drive the resonance and unison, it’s the unique caliber and honesty of singer/songwriter Geoff Rana's voice that makes them truly stand out. From 2003 to 2005 Geoff left the western shores of Australia and headed to Europe, instigating a writing spree of material that would be the foundation of current Jefferson songs and after winning a singer/songwriter competition in Ireland he recorded his first demo with the prize money. Assured of the repertoire he had written, Geoff headed back to Sydney with lyric sheets in one hand and his Strat in the other, with the aim of finding three other propitious musicians to call a band. In 2005 Geoff returned to Sydney to study at the Australian Institute of Music and after meeting bass player Jared King, formed The Jefferson. Following a number of late nights and successful jamming sessions, guitarist Andrew Turner and drummer Dion O'Connor, both with established backgrounds in the local music scene, joined the band soon after. Playing live gigs around Sydney and further developing their sound, The Jefferson's breakthrough came when they caught the attention of renowned Australian ARIA-Award winning producer/engineer, Craig Porteils and with Craig at the helm, The Jefferson went into the studio in January 2009 to record their self-titled EP.
