Dark, throaty, female vocals growl over blistering thrash that slows to build a brooding mood before turning back to a fast assault of up-tempo hardcore. While this Australian band has unmistakable modern His Hero is Gone-esque influences and occasional musical flourishes (and the chops to pull them off), something about the basic, solid recording and simple-yet-effective attack of the music brings to mind lots of great thrash and hardcore from the early '90s - Disrupt, Deformed Conscience, etc. - where the intent was more influenced by hardcore than metal. It's refreshing to hear a band seemingly defining its own sound as opposed to "sounding like X,"and the lyrics have and introspective and thoughtful edge on otherwise staid punk topics.
