The PAPER SCISSORS, a post-indie/soul band from Sydney, Australia… - They started their own label- OUR FIRST LABEL. - They released THE PAPER SCISSORS EP in 2006, which featured We Don’t Walk. - We Don’t Walk got them first on Sydney community radio FBi 94.5, then on national broadcaster Triple JJJ and ABC TV’s Rage. - The EP got them into sweaty dimly lit clubs where they created a buzz with hard work and a frenetic, crowd friendly, loud and tumultuous live show. - They progressed onto larger, slightly better lit venues with people like Midnight Juggernauts, Data Rock, Patrick Wolf and at Festivals such as Falls/Southbound/Great Escape. - They released a debut LP ‘Less Talk More Paper Scissors’ in 2007 which singer/songwriter Jai Pyne produced. It received great reviews, got them money from advertising, was released and played on the BBC in the UK, and sent them around the country both live and on Triple J. They were chuffed when The Sydney Morning Herald said first single “Yamanote Line is the best song ever written. Truly” - In 2008 They are making new film clips for singles, releasing remixes, touring the country from coast to coast, co-headlining with bluejuice, and then probably sleep for a bit and write some new stuff. - Peers/blogs/journalists/family members have hyped them to be one of the better bands in Australia; LTMPS was The Sydney Magazine’s album of the month Oct 07, PBS fm and Fbi album of the week, top 10 on RRR Fm, “Growling brilliance” Herald Sun “like James Brown in tight jeans” New York Blog - coolhunting.com “more Jon Spencer than John Butler” – Vice 3.5/5
