Hoolahan are a guitar pop band pure and simple. Hailing from the same Sydney New Pop scene that's spawned the (now defunct) John Reed Club and 78 SAAB, and has supported the rise of Montana and Mr Blonde, Hoolahan have a similiar take on well-crafted post-Pixies pop cuteness. Topping exhaustively constructed pop tunes with falsetto vocals, they're a classic pop archetype, one which fits the tone of the Stems rather than the Triffids. Which is to call the wrong lineage anyway, this band being far more ACT than WA. Hoolahan arriced in Sydney with fellow ex-Canberrans Youth Group and the John Reed Club. With the help of new Sydney scene shakers Winterman and Goldstein this combo have reasserted the pop precedent already been set by Sidewinder, and the Falling Joys and the Plunderers before them.
